Electrolysis
For grey and stubborn hair that does not respond to laser treatment.
Electrolysis treats individual hairs and is used at Skinfinity for grey and stubborn hair, which does not contain enough pigment to respond to laser treatment.
Because each hair is treated individually, sessions are planned around the size of the area.
What does Electrolysis treat?
- Grey, white and very fine hair that laser cannot target
- Individual stubborn hairs remaining after a laser course
- Small, defined areas such as the chin or upper lip
How it works
A fine probe is placed at each follicle and a small current is applied to that follicle before the hair is released. Because it does not rely on pigment, hair colour does not limit treatment.
Each hair is treated individually, so session length is planned around the size of the area and how dense the hair is.
What to expect
The area is cleansed and worked through hair by hair. Sensation varies and is discussed as the session proceeds.
Slight redness or small raised spots afterwards are normal and usually settle within a day.
How many sessions are needed?
There is no fixed number that applies to everyone. The plan — how many sessions, how far apart, and what each session costs — is set out in writing at your consultation once your skin has been assessed.
Aftercare
- Keep the area clean and avoid makeup over it for the rest of the day where practical.
- Avoid heat, swimming pools and heavy sweating for 24 hours.
